JOB SUMMARY:
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Post-Award Administrator works with researchers across Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) to obtain and negotiate awards from sponsoring agencies, assists with grant proposal preparation, ensures compliance with federal regulations and Institutional policies, provides financial support including financial reporting, billing and collection services, negotiates various contracts, including, CDAs, MTAs, DUAs, service, research and clinical trial agreements with for-profit, industry sponsors and/or collaborators, and promotes knowledge of sponsored research administration throughout the institution’s research community.
The position is responsible for managing compliance and administrative matters relating to sponsor-funded grants, contracts, and/or financial management, which span all aspects of the grants/contracts, award lifecycle and elements of pre-award planning and evaluation of business processes. Participates in university-wide policies and procedures committees, provides leadership and expertise in research administration, and ensures compliance with relevant regulations.
This OSP Post-Award Administrator position supports multiple departmental Faculty and research support personnel from new award set-up through closeout for extramural funds awarded to the enterprise. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely submissions of all financial sponsor deliverables along with helping to ensure that funds are expensed in compliance with Federal, institutional and sponsor regulations/policy. This senior level role is also responsible for mentoring new team members. Works as a member of a cohesive pre and post-award team, as well as contracts, in providing well-rounded support. Participates in presentations, outreach, and trainings in schools and departments as necessary. Provides strong mentorship to the junior staff in addition to serving as a liaison between the departments and OSP.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Administrator OSP II - Post Award requires the following:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
- Pre-award, post-award or contracting skills preferred.
- Medical terminology, knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year Business Office experience in a healthcare environment or Research Office experience preferred.
Administrator OSP III - Post Award requires the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
- Two (2) years of experience in grant accounting, research administration, grant/contract application and review/negotiation and/or paralegal experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Administrator OSP IV - Post Award requires the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
- Three (3) years of experience in grant accounting, research administration, grant/contract application, review/negotiation, and/or paralegal experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
Administrator OSP V - Post Award requires the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
- Five (5) years of experience in grant accounting, research administration, grant/contract application, review/negotiation, and/or paralegal experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA) as granted by the Research Administrators Certification Council preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The OSP Administrator is expected to work at all levels at either the technical or non-technical competency level indicated for their respective area of either pre-award, post-award, or contracts.
- Supports faculty members and department administrators in the various stages of grant and/or contract life cycle. At this level, the OSP Administrator V has expert level experience in techniques and concepts of contracts and grants
