Job Description

We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer to join our Digital Engineering team responsible for the digital application portfolio that includes eCommerce shopping experience, personalized recommendations, content management system, search, online returns and retail POS commerce solutions. As a senior member of the team, you will shape next generation of Vuori customer digital experience and partner with engineering team to deliver on business & technology goals through innovation, design and development of systems & tools required.

To be successful in the role, you will need a proven track record of being a disruptor and an innovator. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build and maintain scalable, high volume, and performant web applications. In this role, you will also provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers on your team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead the design, development, and deployment of high volume/traffic web applications.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, merchandizers, designers and project managers, to ensure that our applications meet the needs of our business.
Mentor and pair effectively with other engineers to deliver high-quality code.
Ensure that our applications are scalable, maintainable, and performant.
Stay up-to-date with the latest web technology trends & methodologies and make recommendations for their use in our applications.
Collaborate with product managers & stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical recommendations.
Lead engineering culture by example, evangelizing best practices like test-driven development and refactoring.
Provide technical and architectural direction, balancing short-term delivery and long term functional & technical goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions for complex problems.
5+ years of experience in JavaScript, React, Redux, Node.
Experience in GraphQL and Restful APIs.
Experience with NextJS and Netlify is a plus.
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles/processes (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, TDD, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
Ability to quickly jump between different technologies and have a solid understanding of how to debug problems from the UI down to downstream systems/services.
Proven experience architecting and delivering scalable, secure, and performant solutions for complex business problems.
Experience with designing & writing unit tests as a way of maintaining high quality in your code.
Experience in mentoring engineers.
Deep familiarity with modern technologies, design principles, and patterns.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills to manage priorities.
Experience in managing & communicating risks/status upward & outward.
Experience working within fast paced rapidly growing company.
Experience in building partnerships and working collaboratively across the organization.
Experience using data and analytics to make data-driven decisions a plus.
Exposure to Shopify eCommerce platform a plus.
