Job Description:

The Data Designer III gathers and translates business data extraction and consumption requirements into technical specifications. This role ensures proper data ingestion, curation, and consumption. This role clarifies solution designs that support business strategies and analytical initiatives, especially when requirements are unclear. The role documents, prototypes and validates current and future state data flow processes. This role provides subject matter expertise by identifying relevant business processes affecting data curation and explaining their impact on data.

Depth & Scope:

  • Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge / expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
  • Requires master level conceptual expertise and knowledge for own area of specialty / domain and knowledge of broader related areas
  • Primary subject matter expert in multiple areas and consults with clients/or project teams with respect to all aspects of business information management processes and procedures
  • Expert level analytical and problem-solving skills and fluent in multiple programming languages
  • Works autonomously as a senior/lead on a diverse range of tasks and is relied upon to coach/ educate others
  • Manages and directs activities related to analysis, design and support of business information management solutions
  • In-depth expertise or experience with big data solutions and familiarity with big data technologies
  • Keeps abreast of rapid business and technology innovation within business information management field
  • Familiar with visualization tools

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate, and/or;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific or financial background

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Leads on complex analysis in an evolving data environment
  • Gathers, analyzes, documents and maintains all data requirements related to the business applications, interfaces, and reporting environments in different kinds of data maps
  • Applies standards and best practices to ensure that the application’s data is accurate, complete, current, understandable, and accessible
  • Works with data owners to define and manages data dictionary / catalog for respective data platforms, systems / servers / applications
  • Flows to advice on efforts of data modelers, data warehouse / data integration developers, and data management process in data lakes, database usage and data warehousing
  • Adopts, maintains and enhances Enterprise Data Governance related policies, in alignment with TD's Enterprise standards
  • Provides thought leadership and insights on emerging data information management solutions and/or frameworks
  • Ensures respective programs / policies / practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities
  • Provides leadership in cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as a top expert, helping to identify risk / provides guidance for complex situations across multiple domains
  • Keeps updated on emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • Collaborates with technology and business teams  to ensure alignment and guide successful delivery of data solutions
  • Facilitates data analysis and investigations for business users and QA teams, assists with complex issues and validates business cases during development and testing phases
