COMSATCOM Engineer

Overview

Bowhead seeks a Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM) Engineer to support the Wideband SATCOM Operations Center (WSOC) in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning, definition, implementation, and operational management of global COMSATCOM communications systems to yield more effective and flexible global SATCOM support• Provide planning services for transmissions management, control, and coordination for all Commercial frequency spectrums to include all Commercial SATCOM systems in use.• Employ an integrated systems approach to assist with properly developing, implementing, testing, planning, and managing SATCOM• Support SATCOM Operational Manager (SOM) and Consolidated SATCOM Systems Expert (C-SSE) functions as described in CJCSI 6250.01 Series• Support on-orbit and future SATCOM systems, SATCOM System Experts, and day-to-day operational management of DoD-owned and leased SATCOM resources to provide authorized users with global SATCOM support as operations and evolving requirements dictate• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BA/BS Degree and minimum 6 years of relevant experience, OR• High School diploma and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience• One (1) year of relevant experience or education in communication principles and SATCOM theory• Three (3) years of operational experience with Commercial or Military SATCOM systems• Knowledge of intelligence capabilities, processes, and tasking mechanisms necessary to support Government efforts for performance of SATCOM Interference tasks• Experience with mitigation, resolution, and recovery from satellite anomalies and EMI support

Desired Skills:• Experience developing, planning, operating, controlling, and/or managing military or commercial SATCOM systems and software such as DoD Teleports and Gateways, Service Teleports and Gateways, Commercial Teleports and Gateways, Commercial SATCOM satellites and constellations and planning and management software• Experience with JSMPS, JIST, JSME, EM&C, SOMSAT, JSIR, and SDB-MT is highly desired

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access.

Physical Demands:• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
