About the role


  

The Opportunity: PLA's Student Success Coordinators are responsible for supporting School Administration in their implementation of multi-tiered systems of support.  This includes building a positive climate and culture through restorative practices, providing direct restorative services to staff, students & families, and implementing initiatives and strategies to decrease truancy and suspensions. This person will receive training and ongoing support from the leadership team. The overall intent of the project is to benefit children and lessen the impact of trauma.

 

The Details: 

Key Deliverables: 

  • Identify individuals to  participate in restorative intervention, perform assessments (including risk assessments), offer support and information for the duration of the intervention, and make referrals to other agencies as appropriate
  •  Facilitate restorative interventions as appropriate in accordance with the Restorative Justice Council’s Best Practice Guidance for Restorative Practice
  • Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Gather, assess, and monitor academic, attendance, and behavior data; looking for patterns that indicate a student may be at risk
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to address chronic absenteeism under the direction of the school leader
  • Identify, record, and reflect on student needs and actively engage with the professional learning community and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) team to assess, plan, monitor, and implement methods to solve student health, attitude, and learning concerns
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare student reports, and communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administration  regarding child’s progress in a timely and effective manner according to protocols agreed by the Team
  • Actively participate in and provide professional development and maintain knowledge of restorative practices as well as inform and support all entities in the school of effective strategies for improving student success
  • Design and deliver social-emotional lessons, materials, and activities to help scholars develop  effective habits and coping skills
  • Provide a functional and attractive environment conducive to learning and aligned with the curriculum ensuring 85% scholar satisfaction on classroom surveys
  • Attend trainings and meetings that provide knowledge of state, local, and school system guidelines on attendance
  • Identify scholars in jeopardy of attendance truancy and work with the building leader to arrange family meetings
  • Interpret pertinent laws, court verdicts, and school handbook policies on attendance
  • Provide family outreach and share access to community resources
  • Maintain an intentional, consistent, and functional schedule of activities that support social and emotional learning and growth which promotes equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Adhere to PLA’s behavior policy
