Senior Software Engineer, DevOps

Alert Innovation, now powered by Walmart, is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

We’re seeking Software DevOps Engineers at all levels to work closely with product development teams to automate compiling, testing, and delivering code to production. You'll have the opportunity to work throughout the technical stack from embedded software to cloud applications. We're looking for a voracious learner who is willing to jump into problems with both feet.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

Create the core sre/devops products that will be leveraged across entire ORG 

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure and training DEV teams to be self-service as a longer-term goal leveraging the standardized DevOps tooling 
• Build out scalable infrastructure for the internal pipeline and tools  
• Creating the internal products that will be used at alert innovation for the SDLC pipeline. 
• Various end-customer product streams that enable automation onsite 
• Balance an 80% DEV and 20% SRE workload balance within an operating agile/scrum team 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• 3+ years DevOps or related experience (release engineering, QA, Ops, field, etc). 
• Expertise in CI/CD toolchain of choice – Jenkins, Gitlab, artifactory, and test integration. Expert in CI/CD/CT 
• Strong background in python 
• Background working with Java or Golang (nice to have) 
• 1+ years of Kubernetes and Docker 
• Expertise in at least one config mgmt. tool (ansible, puppet, chef, etc…) 
• Expertise in at least one scripting language of choice (with ability to learn others) 
• Strong communication, and collaboration skills. 
• Seek to build - projects to products, systems thinking, modern SDLC pipelines  
• Always seek to minimize constraints and increase lead time, reduce MTTR and increase DEV’s experience. 
• Developer first mindset with a passion for solving Dev and Ops problems with code 
• Strive for operational excellence, tearing down silos and always improving feedback loops 
• Strong urge to automate all manual processes 
• Always looking to leverage continuous improvement, drive the DORA metrics. 
• Have an urge to document and script “all the things” so you never need to learn the same thing twice or have the same outage/failure. 
• Have an enthusiastic, just-go attitude. When you see something broken, you will dive into fix. 
• Comfortable working in high velocity Kanban/scrum environments; delivering quickly and iterating fast. 
• Can create a reference modern SDLC pipeline leveraging the standard DevOps concepts 
• Share our values, and work in accordance with those values. 
• Product mindset with ability to turn large monolith projects into product/value streams
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent background experience.
