Summary:
The Laboratory Technician will perform chemical and physical analysis of SCR catalyst finished product and raw materials utilizing X-Ray-Fluorescence, Mercury Auto-pore, Surface Area, Particle size analyzers, and Micro Vu instrument. This position will involve generating accurate data and meet critical delivery times for internal and external customers. The position supports Production and Catalyst Product Development.
Essential Duties:
• Perform chemical elemental analyses utilizing XRF Fluorescence and ICP-MS instruments.
• Perform mercury and nitrogen pore volume testing.
• Perform nitrogen surface area testing.
• Perform Particle size and Wet sieving testing in raw material.
• Perform Water absorption and Shrinkage testing.
• Perform dimensional testing on SCR catalyst.
• Sample preparation (cutting, pulverization and pressing samples)
• QC and report data to internal customers
• Perform essentials maintenance to analytical instrumentation.
• Follow all laboratory safety rules.
• Maintain incoming and outgoing sample coordination.
• Perform work area housekeeping.
Additional Duties:
• Special projects as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in science or related field.
• Prior laboratory experience
• Ability to perform XRF, ICP-MS, Mercury and Nitrogen pore size analyzes.
• Must be able to follow Standard Operation Procedures
• Must be able to multitask.
• Ability to learn and understand operation and care of analytical instrumentation.
• Ability to understand use and function of complex spreadsheets and databases.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others regarding work issues and problems.
• Strong attention to detail
• Initiative to plan and execute work efficiently and perform it accurately.
• Depending on internal customer demand, this person may be required to support shift work, including weekends.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or technical field
• Two years of work in a laboratory role
• Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions:
• 2nd Shift Monday - Friday, 3:00pm- 11:30pm
•Mechanical noise
• Dusty and dirty work environment
• Varying temperatures from warm to cool.
Physical Requirements:
• Walking, sitting, and usage of repetitive motions frequently.
• Standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing loud noises occasionally
