Job Summary:
The Wellness Ambassador will support the mobile pantry in the Athletics Department by assisting with daily operations and connecting student-athletes to additional resources offered through Basic Needs & Student Support. This role involves collaborating with both Basic Needs and Athletic staff to ensure efficient pantry services and help student-athletes access a wide range of support resources.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide quality and consistent student-centered services to all students and provide additional resources and information to assist students in addressing their needs
- Maintain a caring, respectful, comfortable, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all student served in the one-stop center
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships with external agencies and the campus community including students, staff, and community members
- Present a professional appearance and positive attitude Operations
- Maintain snack inventory, quality control, and rotation of personal care items in accordance with policies and procedures
- Keep space and storage area clean and organized, including wiping down shelving, and workstations, organizing and stocking, and neatness in the center
- Maintain crowd control during busy times in the Athletic area Outreach
- Engage with students through in-person tabling and outreach events to promote department services, programs, and resources
- Provide basic needs resources and services offered to students which may include Basic Needs Grant Request, Swipe Out Hunger, CalFresh, incentive resources, and more Coaching
- Guide and follow up with new and returning students on basic needs services or resources to successfully complete
- Refer students to additional resources available through the Basic & Needs & Student Support Center and the integrated Holistic Support General
- Work on special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
- As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to provide friendly and pleasant student-oriented services and maintain a professional work conduct
- Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Ability to adhere to work agreements, follow routine verbal and written instructions, use time effectively and work productively with general supervision
- Ability to speak and write in a second language is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Google applications.
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.00 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
This is an 'On-Campus Only' position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
