About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Control Management Specialist within the Chief Operating Office (COO) Control team. The responsibilities of this role will include risk identification and assessment, control and issue management, control design and evaluation, control reporting and governance, and other control programs. In addition, this role also includes designing controls in partnership with business owners, including effectiveness measures, implementation support, validation of effectiveness post implementation; and controls evaluation based on defined triggers.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in mitigating current and emerging risk exposures associated with the activities and operations of the assigned business group, and identify opportunity for process improvements within the scope of defined business control responsibilities
  • Review and analyze basic business challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives
  • Develop and implement risk monitoring, risk reporting processes, and controls while evaluating and reporting results where necessary
  • Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgment while developing Control Management functional area expertise
  • Provide support in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as front line liaison to Independent Risk Management area
  • Collaborate and consult with Control Management team and key stakeholders, including internal customers


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


 

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of issue management policy and of the issue management process
  • Knowledge and understanding of Veritas, SNOW and Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) such as reporting and issue management
  • Experience designing effective controls, issue management and supporting metrics and governance programs
  • Experience determining the root cause of identified issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk and Control Self-Assessment and Risk and Control Self-Assessment concepts
  • Strong operational (or compliance or audit) risk management experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience with tracking, monitoring and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience assessing processes, procedures and identifying controls.
  • Understanding of control reporting, matrix and data hygiene
  • Direct experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment activities
  • Direct experience with enterprise risk management framework, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of audit, regulatory compliance, or risk management.
  • Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to be flexible, multitask  and adjust plans quickly to meet changing business needs.
  • Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
  • Ability to turn preliminary or ambiguous information, ideas, or problems into well-defined plans and solutions.
  • Ability to quickly learn business operations and processes.
  • Ability to learn and assimilate information from multiple people and sources.
  • Ability to gather, organize, and interpret data.
