TITLE: PROGRAM DIRECTOR (Harstad House)
ACCOUNTABILITY: Napa/Sonoma Director of Clinical Services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in a mental health related field. Experience may be substituted for degree requirements, depending on nature and length of experience.
- At least three years' experience in a community mental health program, including supervisory experience.
- Specific experience in residential treatment and/or knowledge of social rehabilitation is preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and other providers both orally and in writing.
- Must, in the sole judgment of Progress Foundation, demonstrate good judgment and emotional stability.
- At all times must be able to negotiate several flights of stairs multiple times during each work shift, and must be able to lift and carry 20 lb. packages multiple times during the work shift.
- Must demonstrate ongoing clearance with the California State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, and allowing direct contact with program clients.
- Must maintain training certification and demonstrated capacity to perform basic First Aid and CPR.
- Must maintain a valid California driver’s license, and must be insurable under the agency's current auto insurance policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Director has full responsibility for providing clinical and administrative leadership over all operations of the program, remaining available beyond regular business hours as required. This includes responsibility for ensuring compliance with all Progress Foundation policies and procedures and for ensuring that client services are provided in accordance with the values and principles of Social Rehabilitation as described by Progress Foundation, and for ensuring that program staff have the necessary orientation and training to provide effective Social Rehabilitation services. In addition, the program must remain in compliance with County contracts and State of California regulatory agencies.
LEADERSHIP
- Actively participate in agency initiatives, including discussions of policy, practice, and procedure, and promote, through assertive organizational engagement, reviews or changes in these areas when needed. (administrative)
- Ensure, through teaching, modeling, and active observation and feedback, the practice of Social Rehabilitation among staff and clients within the program, and promote the philosophy within the mental health community. (clinical)
- Chair weekly staff meetings and call special clinical and administrative meetings when necessary. (clinical)
- Respond to program emergencies in a professional, thorough, and timely manner, paying careful attention to client needs, agency policy, and regulatory requirements. (programmatic)
- Serve as a positive role model for employee relations, professional functioning, and for adherence to the principles of social rehabilitation. (clinical)
- Maintain own knowledge, skills, and abilities through continuous education and use of supervision.
- Identify and inform Progress Foundation Administration of emergent trends in referral patterns, client presentation, treatment and discharge opportunities, impediments to services and any concern regarding the program’s effective operation. (clinical)
