Task requirementsSubject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF4 to serve as UKStratCom International 4 at HQ UKStratCom on FTRS (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Oct 2024.
Unit Function:
Coordination and coherence of Strategic Command HQ’s international engagement.
Position Role:
Specialising in TLB-level NATO collaboration, reflecting Departmental strategy, increased HQ 2-4* interest in developing the high-level relationship with NATO across the range of TLB activity (support to campaigning, driving integration, leading the cyber domain); developing key bilateral relationships to influence Alliance direction.
Responsibilities:
- Drive coherence across HLBs and Cap areas on all aspects of NATO relationship; identifying dependencies/overlaps. Primary interface with Joint Warfare, SJFHQ, PJHQ and others on operational matters
- Provide written and oral briefing to HQ senior leadership in advance of NATO events; coordinate support as needed.
- Lead on developing the Command’s overall network in and understanding of NATO, focusing on UKDel, UKLOs, SHAPE, JFCs and regional plans, working closely with International Team Leader, IDA and ICED.
- Lead for developing Command’s strategic relationship with Germany in alignment with HMG, Head Office and Command strategic direction; work closely with LO/CIDS on Cyber & Information issues.
- Lead for developing the Command’s strategic relationship with France in support of VCDS’ and DComd D&G. E3 MDO work strand, including the “Emerging Leaders” Alumni programme.
- Support International Team colleagues on non-NATO business where appropriate, for example large scale events such as inbound Staff Talks and provide military advice and expertise to civilian colleagues within the International Team
- Be prepared to travel overseas for up to 35 days per year in support of HQ (Comd, DComd, DStrat) SLIE visits, especially but not only related to NATO, Germany and France.
- Assist UKStratCom HLB and CAP teams to secure reservist resource for short-term projects and longer-term Defence engagement requirements as requested, in accordance with priorities agreed by Director Strategy. And Deputise for AH international Engagement as required.
Must be an OF4 of any specialisation. OF3 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered.
Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.
