Position Overview:
This Mechanical Engineering (Product) position is an entry level position that will support the Product Engineering team projects. The Product Engineering team focuses on projects that increase business efficiencies, improve costs, and improve existing qualified standard products where possible. Examples of these projects could include qualifying second source suppliers for key standard components, improving legacy processes to improve efficiencies and lead times while maintaining strict adherence to specifications, and further improving existing products when deemed possible. This position requires a team contributor that can work cross-functionally with many departments to complete projects at the required pace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include developing product and process improvements in accordance with standard Teledyne Oil & Gas practices and customer/industry standards while collaborating with associated interfacing departments. The Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of their projects to meet target deadlines while reporting regular updates to management.
Develop knowledge on all applicable customer and industry standards.
Support product Qualification activities as required.
Actively seek to gain detailed knowledge for all Teledyne Oil & Gas products and technologies.
Proactively participate in the Product Engineering Team environment and follow the direction and leadership of senior staff.
Education and Experience:
BS degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
Prefer some experience in a related industry
A strong engineering aptitude with hands-on capabilities
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of general safety practices in high pressure, thermal, and electrical operational and test environments
Familiarity with basic temperature, pressure, electrical theory, mechanical stress/strain, optical insertion loss, back reflection, vibration & shock requirements and measurement techniques
Basic comprehension of Fiber Optic and Electrical (power and communications) interconnectivity
Strong verbal & written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced environment.
Working knowledge of CAD/CAE (AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred).
Working knowledge of MSOffice programs (Word, Project, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
