Create a commercially practical, technically sufficient and economically sound design for an assigned product or unit based on predetermined mechanical characteristics. Responsible for performance requirements, weight and dimensional limits, determining the nature and working relationship of the various elements of design.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the arrangement of mechanical details, and preparing initial design layouts.
- Follow up and assist in the preparation of final layout and working drawings
Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):
Qualifications:
· Experience in a manufacturing environment, and preferably in an automotive related industry.
- Experience with problem solving techniques (5 why & root cause analysis), and with statistical techniques and data analysis.
- Must have excellent communication skills with ability to interface directly with hourly employees as well as management level of employee concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
- Must possess a high energy level with a strong work ethic.
- Good pc skills with knowledge of excel, word and outlook.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the specialty vehicle or truck chassis manufacturing field.
- Experience working with CAD, Pro/Engineer and MS Office Suite
