About the Role
We're looking for a highly skilled Learning Experience Designer with hands-on food safety e-training experience to join our content team. In this role, you'll partner closely with our in-house Food Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to build, scale, and continuously improve our food safety course catalog — spanning everything from Food Handler and Food Hygiene training to FSMA-regulated programs.
You bring both instructional design craft and food safety domain fluency, so you can translate complex regulatory requirements into engaging, accessible learning experiences. You also embrace AI-powered workflows to produce high-quality training faster and smarter.
*This is a contract-based role, with scope defined per course or batch of courses.
What You’ll Do
Course Development & Instructional Design
Partner with our Food Safety SME to outline, develop, and QA food safety courses across the regulatory spectrum — including Food Handler, Food Hygiene & Safety, and FSMA Preventive Controls.
Translate complex federal and state food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, FSMA standards) into clear, engaging, learner-centered online training experiences.
Ensure all course content meets applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Design courses that are accurate, accessible, and built for a variety of learner types — from frontline food handlers to supervisors and responsible parties.
Regulatory Accuracy & SME Collaboration
Work directly with the Food Safety SME to validate technical content accuracy and ensure alignment with current FDA, FSMA, and, or state-level requirements.
Partner with the Legal team to ensure all content maintain full regulatory compliance.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience creating food safety training content — including programs such as Food Handler, Food Hygiene & Safety, FSMA Preventive Controls, or Responsible Beverage Training.
Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into relatable, engaging digital training in an LMS or e-learning format.
Experience with course authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, or 360Learning.
Strong written communication, instructional design principles, and rigorous attention to detail.
High comfort working with AI tools to optimize content creation.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with ANAB/ANSI accreditation standards for
