About the role

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we are reimagining how enterprises build and operate through the power of Generative and Agentic AI. The Oracle Chat Experience is a cornerstone of this vision—an intelligent, multi-agent system that helps professionals across domains interact, reason, and co-create with AI.

As a Senior Principal Software Developer (IC5), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, scalability, and reliability of enterprise AI applications like Oracle Chat. You will lead the definition of long-term technical direction, partnering with applied scientists, product managers, and engineering leaders across teams to build secure, high-performance systems that bring AI reasoning into real-world workflows.

This role combines deep technical expertise with architectural foresight. You will design the foundation that allows multiple AI agents, retrieval systems, and orchestration layers to operate seamlessly at enterprise scale. While you will remain hands-on with critical design and prototyping work, your greatest impact will come from influencing the architecture, elevating technical standards, and mentoring Principal and Senior Engineers across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including ownership of large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proven experience defining or influencing architectural direction across multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in Python, Java, or Go, and deep understanding of cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across product, science, and engineering functions.
  • Track record of mentoring senior engineers and driving technical excellence across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LLM-powered systems, multi-agent orchestration, or AI workflow frameworks.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization, resilience engineering, and observability in production AI systems.
  • Experience influencing architectural roadmaps or technical strategy at an organizational level.

Why Join

  • Lead the architecture and technical evolution of Oracle’s next-generation Agentic AI Applications.
  • Work at the intersection of AI, distributed systems, and large-scale distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with exceptional engineers and scientists building practical, reasoning-driven AI systems for global enterprises.
  • Shape the foundation for how businesses will work and innovate with AI in the years ahead.
  • Define the architecture and long-term technical direction for enterprise AI applications such as Oracle Chat.
  • Partner with applied science teams to productionize LLMs, retrieval, and agentic reasoning frameworks in secure, scalable environments.
  • Drive architectural reviews, technical design decisions, and cross-team alignment across backend, orchestration, and integration layers.
  • Lead complex initiatives that span multiple teams, balancing innovation with operational excellence and delivery predictability.
  • Mentor Principal and Senior Engineers, fostering a culture of technical depth, quality, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with product and research leaders to translate emerging AI capabilities into production-grade enterprise solutions.
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices for performance, observability, and resilience in large-scale AI systems.
