Job Description

The Engineering Team Lead with Buildings and Places will be responsible for the overall leadership of the MEP Team including design oversight on all projects, project management, process improvement, and pursuit of design and technical excellence. This role would be a member of the Chicago leadership team with responsibilities of regional collaboration.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical leadership and applies thorough and diversified knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and practices to all projects. 
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Client account leadership, including development of client plans and the identification, positioning, pursuit and securing of new business.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction on AECOM’s performance. Regularly meets with customers to ensure that we are providing quality installations and meeting their individual needs.
  • Team and project discipline leadership including ownership of team metrics such as finances, utilization, and performance.
  • Serve as mentor by coaching and inspiring engineering teams and individuals; grows and develops staff.
  • Work with Managing Principal and Regional Engineering Lead to achieve business and practice goals.
  • Interact and work with diverse set of clients and subcontractors.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    •  BA/BS and 8 Years of Related Experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E) – Mechanical or Electrical

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ten (10)+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education  
    • Ability to think strategically, implement change, enforce policy and resolve conflict
    • Excellent project planning, project management, organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
    • Experience in the Corporate and Commercial markets
    • Extensive understanding of engineering fundamentals including load calculations, conceptual systems analysis through construction documentation design, design and layout of equipment.
    • Ability to concisely express complex system solutions in very early design phases in order to share intent either internally for further development, or externally to assist design partners
    • Documented experience with advanced design, and technically challenging design with high profile technology firms working to fast paced schedules
    • Experience with AutoCAD/Revit (Revit is preferred)
    • Ability to analyze and provide solutions to complex challenges
    • Working knowledge of local and international codes, NEC and LEED standards   
    • Demonstrated ability to lead an engineering team in support of practice growth
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including both verbal/presentation and written
    • Experience developing workplans for engineering projects of varying size and type
    • Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external clients
    • LEED accredited Professional with Sustainability experience
