Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking Satellite Flight Software Engineers (Mid-Level and Experienced Level) in Huntington Beach, California and El Segundo, California.

The selected candidate will work with the BR&T Payload Products & Technologies (PP&T) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of an advanced Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor payloads. The position will involve developing real-time and embedded satellite flight software that will run on a custom mission data processor.

The range of satellite flight software tasks include implementing testing and integrating software for image processing algorithms; guidance, navigation and control algorithms; command and telemetry; mission management; health and status; and fault management in a real-time software framework. The broader product team is focused on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, firmware development, and electronics.  Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform the definition of software requirements, architectures, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems.
  • Perform code development and integration of complex software components across numerous components and subsystems into a fully functional software system.
  • Perform software test procedures and environments, execute the tests and document results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Participate in program engagements and demonstrations with partners and customers on software capability, development, and integration into larger software architectures and environments.
  • Participate the identification, innovation, implementation of new tools and processes to support this work scope.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 2+ years of experience developing real-time and embedded satellite flight software
  • 3+ years of experience in software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and DevOps processes/tools
  • 3+ years of experience with the software engineering programming languages

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Experience leading software engineers through execution of software development projects
