Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit.
Harbor's Edge is seeking a full-time Senior Maintenance Technician [HVAC Service Tech] to join our Plant Operations Team at our state-of-the-art facility located in downtown Norfolk. Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs on water source heat pumps, rooftop units, pumps, and plate heat exchangers. Mainly indoor work orders. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills, including installation and troubleshooting of heating and cooling systems. Additionally, the successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Must be able to perform skilled tasks related to carpentry, electrical work, painting, and general repairs; duties to be performed in a safe, efficient manner with all applicable rules and safety procedures strictly adhered to.
· Work closely with the Plant Ops Manager and other staff to prioritize and address maintenance and renovation needs.
· Maintain detailed records of renovation projects, maintenance activities, and repairs.
· Prepare and submit reports as required by management.
· Must be able to complete work orders in a timely manner.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
· Must be able to frame walls and ceilings.
· Must be able to hang sheet rock.
· Proficiency in installing crown molding, baseboards, and trim.
· Perform repairs, replacements, and upgrades to electrical fixtures, doors and hardware, countertops and cabinets, appliances, walls, and floors.
· Ability to plan and prepare renovation schedules and project milestones.
· Track progress and adhere to renovation timelines.
· Must be able to dead lift 50lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
- Minimum five (5) years of related work experience in demo/renovations/construction field

- Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work with the elderly population in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion
- Ability to always perform duties with consideration for resident’s rights and demonstrate integrity and discretion
- Knowledge of safe and appropriate use of tools and equipment
