POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves in a confidential capacity to assist or aid managerial employees who perform jobs that are not of a routine, clerical, or ministerial nature and require the exercise of independent judgment in the performance of such jobs. This position has a significant role in personnel administration. This is professional work providing independent and highly technical analytical support to improve management capabilities and operational procedures. The employee must exhibit skilled decision-making techniques in evaluating, planning or integrating analysis of data to formulate solutions, strategies, policies or recommendations of a specialized or technical nature. Serves as a Human Resource Specialist (HRS) for Forensic Services and non-forensic vacancies as assigned.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Staying abreast of all current Human Resource policies and procedures to ensure correct information is provided to all members/supervisors;
- Ensuring all forms submitted by members/supervisors are current, accurate and complete prior to forwarding for processing;
- Entering Job Requisitions into People First System for vacancies, as appropriate;
- Coordinating the screening process with the position’s supervisor, reviews applications for minimum qualifications (as applicable), screens applications as requested and then forwards to the supervisor. Reviews selection process materials. Contacts selected applicant(s) and initiates the background investigation. Schedule fingerprint appointments. Run credit reports when necessary. After selection is made, submit necessary documentation, as appropriate;
- Coordinating and validating the employment selection process for assigned selection processes prior to submitting for processing;
- Tracking selection processes and updating track sheet(s) daily; and
- Attending recruitment opportunities on behalf of the agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of rules, policies and procedures related to human resources.
- Knowledge of the People First’s Performance Management functions.
- Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices.
- Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
- Ability to conduct fact finding research.
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
