The Opportunity:

Hudbay has a big future in the United States as we progress the Copper World Complex in Arizona and Mason project in Nevada. Our immediate focus is the Copper World Complex, which is one of the highest-grade open-pit greenfield projects in the Americas.  The initial pre-feasibility study for phase 1 anticipates an initial USD $1.3 billion in growth capex with an estimated 20 year mine life, which will create thousands of new direct and indirect jobs in the region.  We aim to deliver a competitive advantage by creating a work experience that encourages employees to willingly give the best they have, and so we need a very strong HR leader to create this experience, while implementing programs and delivering services in a growing business.  This is a rare seminal opportunity to join a company at an exciting phase of the project. You can make a real difference as you lay the groundwork for a mine that will provide domestic copper in support of a greener future.

Purpose of Role:

The purpose of the role is to implement the leadership tools (systems, behaviours and symbols) required to build a work experience such that employees of the US Business Unit willingly give the best they have.  While implementing such tools, this role and team will also provide essential HR services and support the business needs to operate.

About Hudbay:

Hudbay (TSX: HBM)(NYSE: HBM) is a Canadian diversified mining company with long-life assets in North and South America. Our operations in Cusco (Peru) produce copper with gold, silver and molybdenum by-products. Our operations in Manitoba (Canada) produce gold with copper, zinc and silver by-products. Hudbay’s organic pipeline includes copper development projects in Arizona and Nevada (United States), and our growth strategy is focused on the exploration, development, operation, and optimization of properties we already control, as well as other mineral assets we may acquire that fit our strategic criteria.

Copper is Hudbay’s primary metal, representing approximately 60% of our revenues. Copper is one of the critical metals needed for the global transition to a low-carbon future. The demand for copper is expected to grow with the increased use of the metal in renewable energy sources, energy storage and the electrification of vehicles. Our leading organic growth pipeline provides significant long-term copper optionality to add to our production profile to meet the anticipated increase in copper demand.

With over 90 years of continuous operation, Hudbay stays strong by building on traditions and knowledge, remaining current through ongoing learning, adapting to new influences and embracing new opportunities. We know that committing to safety, embracing diversity, sharing skills, rewarding performance and encouraging a healthy work-life balance can help our people and our company make giant strides.

Mission:

We create sustainable value through acquisition, development and operation of high quality, long life deposits with exploration potential in jurisdictions that support responsible mining. The regions and communities in which we operate benefit from our presence.
