SENIOR VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION COUNSELOR

 

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a federal-state vocational program dedicated to helping people with physical or mental disabilities be successful in employment.

This is an anticipated vacancy. The position works in Tampa Unit 15C as a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

 

Preference may be given to qualified applicants with fluent bilingual skills in English/Spanish.

 

Professional Overview

This position performs professional vocational rehabilitation counseling work assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving employment outcomes. Responsibilities include assessing eligibility, developing individualized employment plans, coordinating services, and supporting job placement activities. The role requires maintaining accurate case records, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and effectively managing multiple priorities in a goal-oriented environment. Minimum Requirements 

 

Professional Experience

Work with individuals with disabilities in advocacy and/or employment-related roles.

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in the following fields: Counseling, Business, Psychology, Education, Public Safety, or Criminology and 2 years of professional experience.

                                                   OR

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in relevant fields and 1 year of professional experience.

 

Examples of Work

  • Provide vocational rehabilitation counseling to individuals with disabilities to support employment outcomes
  • Assess medical, psychological, and vocational information to determine eligibility and service needs
  • Develop and implement individualized employment plans
  • Coordinate and negotiate services with providers and partners
  • Conduct job placement and employment support activities
  • Maintain accurate client records and case documentation
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining a goal-directed approach
