Paralegal Specialist – 70901002

 

This advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in the Office of General Counsel.

 

Salary: $15.75 Hourly Rate

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The incumbent in this position will provide paralegal and general legal support for the Office of General Counsel. This will include assisting the attorneys in the Death Row area of the office.

 

BENEFITS:

  • Life - FDC offers a $25,000 group term life insurance plan to eligible OPS staff through Securian at the low monthly premium of $3.78. When enrolled in basic life, employees may also elect child life and spouse life insurance plans.
  • Retirement - As an OPS employee, the Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Corebridge Financial affords you an excellent opportunity to help accumulate money for a secure retirement. You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience redacting documents.
  • Experience logging and tracking cases in a case management system.
  • Experience scheduling depositions, mediations, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Must have two (2) years of paralegal/legal secretary experience; OR:
    • Postsecondary education may substitute for up to one (1) year of the paralegal experience; OR
    • Postsecondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience with six (6) months of the additional clerical experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience drafting legal documents.
  • Experience utilizing state and/or federal court databases.
  • Experience scheduling and/or calendaring for an attorney.
