Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) has an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious future leader. Mechanical Power Conversion is growing due to high customer demand and needs a Fuel/Oil Pump Mechanical Engineering Co-Op working in the fuel and oil pump product line. Our engineering Co-Ops provide support to the pump design, analysis, testing, and verification / validation. MPC is on the lookout for an ambitious candidate who is a superb communicator with strong technical skills and who wants to make an impact on the aerospace industry.
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December (including the Fall semester); it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.
What You Will Do
Reviews completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion.
Supports a Design lead in the creation and review of components, calculates stack-up of detail components, and performs analysis to substantiate model and print definition.
Resolves design problems of difficult scope to ensure project completion. Engage with manufacturing and engineering counterparts to collaborate on production problem solving opportunities.
Supporting development pump programs in completing program deliverables
Write engineering reports documenting testing results, design details, fielded hardware condition, investigation findings.
Will be utilized as an individual contributor diagnosing and solving problems and building engineering capabilities.
Will follow common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality of work performed.
Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
Designs components or portions of functional systems with assistance of experienced contributors and brainstorming technically advanced prototypes using computer design and engineering systems.
Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
What You Will Learn
Gain engineering experience within a fast paced aerospace environment
Generate experience supporting multiple different engineering roles throughout the pump lifecycle (initial design, validation, production support, field support)
Develop familiarity with multiple different pumping technologies
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with manufacturing techniques is preferred.
