Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Chief Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspection services as directed by the Project Engineer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate group, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive project records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of all documentation.
  • Serves as technical expert in field inspections and audits, recognized as the 'go-to' expert internally and externally for complex technical issues.
  • Provides clear guidance for all inspections, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards across projects.
  • Sets direction and goals for inspection teams, aligning with overall project objectives and organizational strategies.
  • Acts as external spokesperson on technical project issues, representing the company in meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Leads the development and implementation of audit strategies for individual's area of expertise, continuously refining processes for maximum effectiveness.
  • Serves as key point of contact for high-profile engagements and member of AECOM senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of safety protocols for all inspection activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT)
  • Metro-North Railroad Safety certification
  • Experience supervising / managing less experienced inspectors.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, Engineer In Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • NICET certification (or ability to obtain required level).

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation is not available for this position.
