Job Purpose
Senior Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) at Kyowa Kirin are the field-based extension of our Medical Affairs department. MSLs are scientifically-trained professionals who possess strong clinical and/or scientific backgrounds whose role is to be a resource of fair-balanced and scientifically-rigorous information to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, establish, and maintain professional relationships with international, national, regional, and local key opinion leaders (KOLs) and allied healthcare professionals.
- Educate healthcare professionals and other stakeholders on Kyowa Kirin’s scientific data and product portfolio.
- Deliver transparent, fair-balanced, and compliant scientific and clinical information in a timely and customer-focused manner.
- Serve as a regional medical/scientific resource, aligning external stakeholder needs with appropriate Kyowa Kirin capabilities and resources.
- Gather field insights and competitive intelligence to inform strategy, including feedback from HCP interactions and medical congress participation.
- Develop and deliver educational resources and clinical information in response to identified needs and requests.
- Independently liaise between investigators and Kyowa Kirin for unsolicited investigator-initiated studies (IIS).
- Partner with Clinical Operations to support company-sponsored studies, as appropriate.
- Support speaker identification, development, and training initiatives.
- Engage in timely, compliant, and fair-balanced scientific exchange in response to unsolicited medical inquiries.
- Lead and provide scientific support at international, national, regional, and local medical congresses and meetings.
- Participate in advisory boards and clinical investigator meetings.
- Deliver internal education and training to cross-functional partners on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and product data.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships while operating within all compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain ongoing independent learning within the therapeutic area and evolving scientific landscape.
- Participate in PRC/MRC activities, as required.
- Ensure adherence to all company regulatory, legal, and compliance policies.
- Provide mentorship and support to other MSLs, as appropriate.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects, translating field insights into actionable internal perspectives for the MSL team and broader organization.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Advanced clinical/science degree or health care professional credentials required (MD, PhD, RPh, PharmD, NP, PA, MS or equivalent).
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Medical Science Liaison experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong preference for candidates supporting oncology therapeutic areas.
- Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations and OIG guidelines preferred.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, including building strong working relationships, and managing and resolving conflict.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation)
