Job Description
Great Basin College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Learning Commons Department. This position will support the daily operations of Great Basin College’s Learning Commons, including the Library, Testing and Tutoring Center, Career Center, Dual Credit initiatives, and Special Events. The Administrative Assistant 3 plays a vital role in providing front-line service to students, faculty, staff, and the community by promoting an inclusive, welcoming, and service-oriented environment that enhances student success and engagement. This position will help coordinate student support activities, maintain organized records and communications, assist with event logistics, and provide administrative and technical support across Learning Commons programs. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to student-centered service.
Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Schedule
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, the schedule may vary and include occasional evenings and/or weekends to support after-hours events.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
