Sr. Mechanical HVAC Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Sr. Mechanical HVAC Systems Engineer specializing in modular HVAC equipment skids for cooling system applications to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and HVAC design integration with extensive experience in the design for manufacturability (DFM) and product optimization.

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects
• Be a creative problem solver and actively look for the best way to support our varied customers and/or commercial clients
• Will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required
• This position immediately offers opportunities for continuous growth while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry
• This Engineer typically serves the projects in both the field and the office, as necessary
• Conduct duct sizing and pressure drop calculations
• HVAC Equipment sizing and specifications, AHU's, DX Units, Chillers, Pumping systems, Modular Towers, Tanks and Heat exchangers, etc.
• Broad application of principles, theories and concepts in HVAC and mechanical engineering, plus working knowledge of other related integrated fields, i.e. Electrical/Controls, Structural
• Work with young engineering team members providing oversight and training
• Provide resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
• Development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering
• Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures
• May perform in project leadership role and/or may supervise the activities of lower-level personnel
• Contribute to a team environment
• Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues
• Break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks
• Travel to site locations to provide engineering support, meetings with clients, and meetings at other company offices to support engineering efforts

 

Professional Qualifications

• This position will require prior knowledge of the engineering and construction industry
• Understanding of corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment
• A seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of mechanical engineering resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways
• Experience in HVAC, ASHRAE, ASME, UL, SMACNA & ACGIH Codes
• Requires Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years related experience
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software, some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT and/or SolidWorks) along with good verbal and writing skills
• Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities
• Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting
• Willingness to work across Engineering disciplines
• Strong multitasking skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• PE is a requirement
