Overview

Position Description
Provide site leadership to achieve the Company’s objectives related to research, development, and manufacturing of recombinant proteins and other biomolecules. Responsible for all activities relating to recombinant protein research, development and final product production including molecular biology, fermentation, cell culture, purification, process improvements, and technical support for the recombinant protein business.

Responsibilities
- Serve as site lead for the Fujifilm Irvine Scientific’s Pennsylvania (FISI-PA) location with responsibilities for directing research, development, and manufacturing operations.
- Responsible for effective site operations on a day-to-day basis.
- Responsible for working collaboratively with the commercial team to develop operating plans for manufacturing to meet business objectives.
- Responsible for directing manufacturing operations to produce products for sale according to the established production schedule.
- Effectively lead efforts to troubleshoot challenges that may arise in the manufacturing process.
- Drive and direct the scientific R&D activities including discovery, development, product and technology evaluations, and licensing of new products through the management of product or project teams.
- Responsible for managing multiple projects meeting their milestone measurements, performance specifications, production costs, development budget, and goal scheduling.
- Execute and support product launch, commercialization, enhancement planning, and implementation in alliance with marketing, operations, quality/regulatory, sales and international.
- Recruit and hire highly talented, motivated individuals with required current and future skills and abilities with an emphasis on achieving the diversity necessary to establish an effective team.
- Lead development of staff and the product development process for improved effectiveness and efficiency.
- Work cross-functionally with the facilities team to ensure specifications for production space and lab space are met.
- Work with the environmental, health and safety teams to ensure a safe working environment.
- Provides leadership across departments communicating company objectives, inspiring scientific participation, bringing solutions and resolving conflicts.
- Participate as an active member of the senior management team with responsibility for assisting the Executive and Senior Management in setting strategy and achieving the company’s goals and objectives in all areas consistent with the Fujifilm Irvine Scientific mission.
- Responsible for expense and capex budget management for R&D and manufacturing.
