Responsibilities
Join the team supporting NASA’s scientific balloon program delivering low-cost access to near space at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF)! Our highly-skilled launch teams travel around the world to launch scientific payloads to the edge of space. This position as Deputy Business Operations Manager supports CSBF activities at our main facility in beautiful East Texas. Our rural campus offers the ability to work in a low-cost of living area, but within an easy drive of Tyler, Dallas and Houston.
- Assists with managing the CSBF Business Operations office
- Supports the Business Operations manager by maintaining the program’s financial operations
- Works with the program’s contracts analyst to provide responses to customer’s inquiries regarding the program’s contractual obligations
- Works with the program’s financial analyst to prepare recurring financial reports
- Generates cost forecasts for worldwide launch campaigns and major projects
- Monitors on-going projects and ensures they are completed successfully
- Assigns work to subordinate team members
- Supervises the daily activities of employees
- Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
- Solves problems guided by policies and procedures
- Knowledge of principles of financial management and supervision, training and performance evaluation with skills in short- and long-range planning, problem analysis and resolution
- Functions as the Business Operations manager in their absence
- 10% Travel required
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with Eight years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of Two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience managing business financial operations
- Familiarity with government contracts and interfacing with government customers
- Knowledge of Word, Project, Adobe, and Windows
- Proficient in Excel
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration Preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in areas of purchasing, logistics and facilities
- Experience working with International Operations
- Matrixed organization experience

Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.Apply for this role
