Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Survey Lead for our utility clients. As a member of our program team, the Sr. Survey Lead will oversee all Survey related activities, manage the coordination of all survey contractors and or subcontractors, and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for Survey related efforts.
The Sr. Survey Lead will assist with the development of survey scoping packages to attract well developed proposals and competitive fees from survey firms. The Sr. Survey Lead will work with all stakeholders and client as needed to conduct surveys effectively and efficiently and use the output for next steps of the project (engineering, design, and construction).
The Sr. Survey Lead will coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure that survey works are efficiently and effectively coordinated and executed in a timely manner that meets the requirement of assigned projects portfolio. The Sr. Survey Lead with proactively review deliverables with survey team leadership to identify and cause correction individual or programmatic deficiencies and promote best practices and lessons learned from survey teams.
The job responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Shall serve as lead representative for E&D with regards to survey discussion within subcontract and contract survey pool.
- This position will work on both an office environment and field locations as needed.
- Provide professional & technical oversight and guidance. Perform project research, logistics and management, review plats and prepare legal descriptions.
- Has extensive experience with base mapping and associated processes including deed and record map research, existing monumentation survey, field data reconciliation, boundary line analysis and final map preparation.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders such as design, construction and permitting.
- Manage bid and award process to onboard survey contractor as needed.
- Has experience with evaluating survey firm proposals and awarding survey work.
- Expected to be a self-starter and result oriented individual with strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills and ability to communicate and coordinate project goals to the rest of technical staff and other team members.
- Experienced in checking completed Survey job packages for adequacy of design and documentation.
- Provide input on control, boundary, subdivision, heavy civil, topographic & design surveys, and aerial mapping control.
- Understand and identify basic sources of measurement errors. Perform mathematical calculations and check field data.
- Perform data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey programs and AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
- Experienced in working with a diverse team of professionals including, but not limited to: project managers, construction managers, project controls professionals, estimating, public outreach, procurement professionals, environmental professionals, consultants, engineers, safety professionals, risk management etc.
- Has ability to effectively communicate expectations and requirements with both clients and team members.
- Able to assist with new recruitment, mentoring and training of other staff and team members.
- Can perform other department and/or program duties as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
- If working outside of San Diego, selected candidate must be able to travel to San Diego once a month, for a minimum of three days staying during each trip.
