Who We Are
HII Mission Technologies Newport News is expanding its E25 Submarine Work Control Team to support the Virginia-class submarine new construction program at Newport News Shipbuilding. We are actively seeking candidates with prior U.S. Navy submarine experience in work control processes on naval vessels. This position is on-site in Newport News, Virginia, and will transition to a backshift schedule after successful qualification and completion of the Steam Electric Plant course curriculum.
What You Will Do
- Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
- Preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
- Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
- May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
What You Must Have
- AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or HS + 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
- Candidate must have experience with U.S. Navy ESOMS/ETAG tagout systems.
- Candidate must have familiarity with work control documents, including Work Authorization Forms (WAF), work permits, and tagouts.
- Candidate must have prior U.S. Navy submarine experience in auxiliary, main propulsion, or weapons systems.
- Candidate must have an Active SECRET security clearance.
Bonus Points For Having!
- Prior US Navy Experience onboard Los Angeles Class Submarines
- Prior US Navy Experience onboard Virginia Class Submarines
- Ability to read/interpret system drawings and diagrams
