Systems Administrator (Lab) - Journeyman

Tyto Athene is searching for a Systems Administrator (Lab) - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

 

The Journeyman Systems Administrator (Lab) is responsible for maintaining and managing lab-based IT systems, test environments, and development platforms. This position will provide day-to-day support of physical and virtual lab infrastructure, assist engineers and developers with system access and functionality, and ensure compliance with DoD standards.

 

Responsibilities:

• Configure, install, and maintain lab systems including workstations, servers, and virtual machines
• Support setup and management of test environments for system integration and validation
• Maintain user accounts, system backups, security patches, and system updates
• Troubleshoot system failures, hardware/software issues, and network connectivity in the lab
• Document configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change logs
• Ensure lab compliance with STIGs and DoD cybersecurity guidelines
• Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity staff, and system owners for lab readiness
• Provide technical support during test events, simulations, or evaluations
• Maintain lab asset inventory and support hardware lifecycle management

Required:

• Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 4-9 years of hand on experience in systems administration within a lab or test environment
• Proficient with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
• Experience supporting virtualized environments
• Familiarity with DoD STIGs and system hardening procedures
• Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking
• Stong troubleshooting and documentation skills

Desired:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Experience with scripting or automation tools
• Knowledge of lab management tools or configuration management database
• Familiarity with DevSecOps workflows in a lab/test setting
• Prior experience in support of DoD testing or evaluation programs
• Familiarity with containerization technologies
• VMware VCP
• CompTIA Server+ or Linux+
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

Clearance:

• TS/SCI clearance required

Certification:

• DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
• CompTIA Security+ CE
• Microsoft AZ-104
