Staff Accountant (Temporary, 6-Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Role)

Based on company needs, this role has the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position. This is perfect for recent graduates or individuals with up to two years of experience in accounting or finance who are eager to apply their knowledge and grow within a supportive environment.

Location: West Valley City, UT
Schedule: Part-Time, Monday - Friday (20-29 hours a week)
Compensation: $18-$22 hourly DOE
Modality: On Site
FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

About the Role: As a Staff Accountant, you’ll work closely under the guidance of our seasoned Financial Controller, taking on a variety of responsibilities that will immerse you in the day-to-day operations of our finance department. From daily cash reconciliation to supporting various internal departments, this role offers a comprehensive introduction to the accounting field within a thriving organization.

What you'll be doing:

• Daily cash/check deposit entry and reconciliation

• Processing check requests

• Filing and file management

• Data entry and data clean-up projects

• Assisting in the lease termination process

• Petty cash management

• Providing accounting support to other internal departments

• Distributing and opening mail

• Ad-hoc office management and other accounting/finance projects

• Identifying process improvement opportunities in all projects undertaken

What We're Looking For:

• Recent graduate with a degree in Accounting or Finance, or up to two years of relevant experience

• Career aspirations in finance and/or accounting

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, etc.)

• Basic understanding of accounting principles, general ledger, and account reconciling processes

• A self-starting attitude with a desire to contribute every day to a thriving organization

• A strong affinity for learning new software and a desire to utilize it to its fullest

What Will Make You Stand Out:

• 2+ years completed in an accounting or finance program at an accredited 4-year university

• Experience in the leasing or finance industry

• Familiarity with Quickbooks Online and SalesForce
