Job Purpose and Impact

The  Global Food and Bio (CFB) Control System Hardware/Software Engineer will advise and provide overall governance on industrial process control hardware and software standards, solutions and measurements to increase production quality, efficiency and volume for the business. In this role, you will provide broad and in-depth knowledge and provide technical leadership and governance on activities related to control systems hardware and software to improve our capabilities partnering with regional teams to enable the enterprise strategy.  Define, develop and oversee technical roadmap for control system hardware and software including research, prototype/pilot and implementation methods for new technologies. The initial focus of this position will be Emerson DeltaV hardware and software with the potential to expand to other control systems in the future.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for ensuring consistent development and continuous improvement of control system hardware and software standards such as control system application library and lifecycle, hardware lifecycle, control system integrations and process/functional safety technology in alignment with corporate and industry standards.  
• Develop education content and support deployment team engineers and configurators to use standard program libraries to meet URS requirements.
• Define and establish metrics, reporting mechanisms and drive execution of the processes to ensure effective performance, compliance, reliability and integrity of control system solutions to meet business needs.
• Develop and facilitate the execution of component inventory and firmware lifecycle strategy
• Provide input and partner multi-functional teams and functional experts to develop approaches and associated sustain work processes to increase maturity in Autonomous Operations.
• Review control system engineering designs and deliverables (by phase), participate in technical reviews and support site audits for compliance.
• Provide standards and work processes for on-site commissioning, testing, and startup for major hardware & software projects.
• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or 8 years equivalent experience
• Minimum of four years of related work experience 
• Demonstrated proficiency in specifying, building, commissioning and sustaining control system hardware and software application libraries for Emerson Delta V control system
• Practical experience implementing industry standards such as ISA88, ISA106, IEC61511, GAMP
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Ability to travel up to up to 25%.

• Minimum of six years of related work experience
• Experience working across multiple sites
• Technical gap assessment and solution identification
• Ability to build relationships and influence diverse multifunctional teams
• Program/Project management skills such as business case development, benefit and risk analysis
• Ability to translate highly technical information across all levels of technical knowledge
