Description
The CESL Adjunct Instructor will provide high-quality English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to international students in the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) English Language Program. This position focuses exclusively on teaching, assessment, and the related planning and grading functions necessary to deliver effective language instruction. (Note: this is a 3-week, substitute position.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver 12 hours of face-to-face ESL instruction weekly to beginner students
Conduct necessary planning and grading
Create and implement effective lesson plans aligned with established curriculum
Administer, grade, and provide feedback on student assessments
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance
Follow established course syllabi, learning objectives, and assessment criteria
Communicate promptly with program administration regarding any classroom concerns
Consult with the Academic Coordinator on curriculum implementation
Maintain professional standards in interactions with students and colleagues
Submit final grades
Qualifications
Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree AND minimum 1 year of ESL teaching experience
Demonstrated strong teaching skills
Knowledge of effective classroom teaching techniques
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with international students
Preferred Qualifications
Master's in TESOL or equivalent 2+ years of ESL teaching experience
Familiarity with communicative language teaching approaches
Experience in university-based intensive English programs
