Manager of Financial Accounting

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose is to research and field technical accounting questions for all of Love’s companies, as well as provide assistance on special projects related to future acquisitions and new ventures the company is evaluating.  Will also take ownership of the consolidated GAAP financial statements. Will be the primary resource and expert for technical accounting for Love’s companies. Will also manage IT accounting and provide assistance and guidance on company-wide technology spend and allocations.

                                                                                                                   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ownership of the GAAP financial statements, which includes, but is not limited to, the consolidation and elimination processes, system administration, and report preparation.
• Collaborate with corporate development and financial analysts related to corporate development opportunities.
• Assist in due diligence and ensure appropriate accounting treatment of new acquisitions.
• Provide accounting guidance as new acquisitions/joint ventures/deals/etc. are being evaluated.
• Collaborate with senior management on special projects, financial presentations, and analysis as requested.
• Work with highly confidential information which would have immediate impact on the company and counterparties if shared beyond its intended audience and relevant company management.
• Perform accounting standards research related to new pronouncements and as questions arise.
• Communicate difficult financial concepts at the appropriate level of detail necessary.
• Provide assistance during the external audit.
• Manage the IT accounting resource and provide assistance to IT personnel by reviewing monthly reports and providing guidance on treatment of project costs and allocation methods, as well as assisting with the budgeting process.
• Use discretion/independent judgment in developing enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

 

     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • CPA license strongly preferred
• Experience:
  • Previous accounting experience required
  • SAP experience strongly preferred

 

     SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Hard Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications and computer programs; SAP, BPC, and Business Objects knowledge is a plus
• Soft Skills:
  • Ability to maintain a continuous stream of work, deal with a great diversity of people and the possibility of evening and/or weekend work; excellent attention to detail and analytical skills; effective verbal and written communication; teamwork and time management skills; must be reliable and able to meet deadlines
  • Physical Demands:
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
