Job Description
The Field Services Manager manages field sampling activities and acts as a liaison between the laboratory, field sampling teams, and clients. This position ensures that Field Sampling Technicians maintain high standards of sample collection, handling, and documentation. The Field Services Manager is responsible for coordinating field sampling schedules, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role works closely with the laboratory team to ensure proper sample collection and handling procedures are followed, meeting both client needs and regulatory requirements.

Compensation range:$60k-80k based on experience in this field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and schedules field sampling activities, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of projects.
• Manages and trains Field Sampling Technicians, ensuring they follow proper sampling protocols and safety procedures.
• Oversees the maintenance and calibration of field sampling equipment.
• Ensures adequate stock of sampling supplies and coordinates resupply as needed.
• Liaises with clients to schedule sampling events and address any field-related concerns.
• Works closely with laboratory staff to ensure proper sample collection, preservation, and chain of custody procedures are followed.
• Coordinates with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure field sampling activities meet quality control requirements.
• Manages vehicle fleet used for field sampling, including maintenance schedules and safety checks.
• Develops and maintains field sampling SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Conducts field audits to ensure compliance with sampling protocols and safety standards.
• Manages field data collection systems and ensures proper documentation of sampling activities.
• Coordinates with Project Managers to ensure field activities align with project objectives and timelines.
• Assists in preparing proposals for field sampling components of new business opportunities.
• Stays current with regulatory requirements related to environmental sampling and implements changes as needed.
• Participates in client meetings and presentations related to field sampling activities.
• Monitors and reports on key performance indicators for field sampling activities.
• Assists in resolving any field-related client complaints or issues.
• Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives for field sampling processes and procedures.
• Work is split between an office setting and various field locations. Field work may involve outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, and potential contact with environmental contaminants (with proper PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: BS/BA in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute for degree).
Experience:
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience, preferred.
- At least 3 years of environmental field sampling experience, including operating and maintaining equipment.
- A valid and up-to-date driver’s license is required. Will drive company vehicle.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to use a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability and willingness to operate a company vehicle.
- Knowledge of environmental sampling methodologies and protocols.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principals in field sampling.
- Basic understanding of laboratory analysis methods.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements for field work.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Adaptability to changing field conditions and requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse team
