The Director of Office of Faculty Development and Educational Programs holds a key leadership role within Pathology. The director is responsible for advancing the educational mission and professional growth of faculty and trainees and assisting the Vice Chair in overseeing all educational endeavors in the pathology department and DMRT. The director makes strategic decisions, provides recommendations, and conducts analyses to ensure the excellence of all educational programs. This position involves ensuring compliance with regulatory educational agencies, analyzing key metrics and outcomes of the educational programs’ performance as part of accreditation and continuing quality improvement process. Implements faculty development programs and manages various educational initiatives. The director has oversight of all staff in the Office of Faculty Development and Educational Programs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience; or minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in academic medicine, with a focus on pathology education, faculty development, and educational program administration, regulatory and certification regulations. Knowledge of organization policies and procedures
- Demonstrated leadership experience in overseeing educational programs, managing personnel, and making strategic decisions. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and present complex information. • Proficiency in project management, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage resources effectively
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and stay abreast of advancements in medical education practice

- Supervisory Experience: a minimum of 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience within an academic or healthcare setting, preferably within pathology education programs
- License/Certification: Certified Training Administrator for Graduate Medical Education (C-TAGME)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Oversees and directs Pathology Educational Programs: Provides leadership and direction to ensure the successful operation of all pathology educational programs, including quality improvement, curriculum development, recruitment, and accreditation compliance. Supervises pathology residency coordinators, providing guidance and support in their roles and responsibilities. Monitors program performance metrics, such as resident/fellow evaluations and board exam pass rates and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
2. Conducts Program Evaluation and Assessment: Designs and implements evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives. Collects and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Prepares reports and presentations summarizing evaluation findings and recommendations for departmental leadership.
3. Provides upper-level management and decision-making: Participates in strategic planning initiatives to align educational goals with departmental and institutional objectives. Makes informed decisions regarding resource allocation, budget management, and program prioritization to support the department's mission. Collaborates with departmental leadership to address challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure the overall success of the educational programs.
4. Manages Departmental malpractice inventory; ensures practitioners are covered for insurance at all required sites.
5. Ensures Regulatory Compliance: Stays informed about accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to pathology education. Develops and maintains documentation and processes to ensure compliance with accrediting bodies' guidelines and expectations. Coordinates accreditation site visits and prepares necessary reports and documentation as required.
6. Develops and Implements Faculty Development Programs: Designs and executes faculty development programs aimed at enhancing teaching skills and fostering professional growth among pathology department faculty. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify educational needs and develop targeted workshops, seminars, and resources. Evaluate program effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms, and makes data-driven adjustments to improve outcomes.
7. Facilitates Collaboration and Networking: Cultivates partnerships with other departments, institutions, and professional organizations to enhance educational opportunities and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Represents the pathology department at conferences, meetings, and networking events
