Responsibilities & Expectations:
Candidates will have knowledge and experience working with motors, switchgear, transformers, controls, variable frequency drives, protective relays, and other electrical equipment. As a lead field service technician travel to customers in the Western US will be essential.
- Ensuring site is safe for workers and visitors and company health & safety policies are being followed
- Reviewing the quality of all factors involved on site and address problems
- Managing the day-to-day operations and short term schedule of a job
- Ensuring the specified materials are delivered on site and accounted for
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the team, management, and customers - providing direction, reports, project updates and address concerns
- Train new and existing technicians to the particular tasks involved in heavy industrial electrical work
- Electrical installation, including but not limited to conduit, cable, low and medium voltage switchgear and electrical apparatus
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of electrical and electronic systems, both indoors and outdoors
- Working knowledge in low voltage and medium voltage ranging from 120v up to 46kv
- Proficiency in the use of electrical test meters: DVM’s, megger, ammeters, hipot, ductor, Doble, etc.
- Able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, experience in AC and DC power circuits
- General knowledge of low & medium voltage circuit breakers
- Travel to perform regular PM’s and or emergency projects
- Perform basic control wiring installation using schematics and wiring diagrams with little assistance
- Provide and maintain personal tools
Qualifications and Competencies:
- At least 7 years electrical experience desired
- Experience related to utility companies and heavy industry require
- Electrical education or certifications are a plus
- Must have a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have good customer relations skills and able to remain calm during stressful situations
- Ability to work under pressure in a challenging fast-paced environment
- Ability to take direction and act independently. Must also be able to work well with a team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized
- Must be a self-starter and able to make quick decisions
- Must be willing to follow standard safety practices in performing job tasks to promote safe and efficient workmanship
- Must show a history of being reliable and dependable. Ability to work overtime as required
- Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include: bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, or standing for prolonged periods of time
