Job Overview
The Product Manager leads the delivery of new customer experiences through program enhancements. They should possess a strong knowledge of Merchandising and Inventory Management domains. In partnership with business leadership, they define the roadmap for the program and represent the customer experience and business priorities to technical teams—who will execute on that vision. Understanding how product enhancements change customer behavior and identifying emerging market trends is essential for the product manager. They own the socialization of the product vision at all levels of the organization through opportunity assessments while driving development with design solutions. Partnering closely with stakeholders, they ensure solutions are fully leveraged by the business. A successful Product Manager manages multiple projects simultaneously, at various stages of their development in a matrix organization. They perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Do
- Write user stories within an Agile project framework that:
- Directly support primary project objectives
- Are appropriate in size for iterative development
- Include clear and specific acceptance criteria
- Take into account dependencies on other stories and/or projects and initiatives.
- Identify unmet customer needs and develop possible feature/functionality concepts to address those needs.
- Gather input from various internal and external sources to define product concepts. Respond to customer needs throughout the development process. Analyze competitors and market trends. Evaluate technologies. Develop detailed requirements, feature definitions, implementation plans, and internal communications.
- Present and secure approval from senior management and other key stakeholders as necessary.
- Communicate product solutions and benefits to customers and stakeholders. This includes knowledge transfer and training for ongoing feature management.
- Successfully champion new initiatives to the leadership team.
- Balance priorities across the Forecasting and Replenishment portfolio. Identify, recommend, and prioritize key opportunities between business units. Communicate decisions and trade-offs. Maintain a prioritized backlog for each community of product stakeholders.
- Manage expectations by negotiating appropriately, ensuring a common understanding of where, when, and how business user stories can be optimally prioritized.
- Collaborate closely with the business to understand and document business requirements for Forecasting and Replenishment use cases.
- Provide advice and suggestions to the business for Forecasting and Replenishment opportunities based on detailed knowledge of existing data, business objectives, and available technology.
Skills You Will Need
Strategic Planning and Roadmapping: Ability to work with business leadership to define the roadmap for program development and represent customer experience and business priorities to technical teams.
Communication and Stakeholder Management: Proficiency in socializing the product vision across the organization, driving development with design solutions, and ensuring solutions are fully leveraged by the business.
Project Management: Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, at various stages of development, within a matrix organization.
Agile Methodologies: Experience in writing user stories within an Agile framework, considering project objectives, iterative development, acceptance criteria, and dependencies.
Market Analysis and Technology Evaluation: Ability to gather input from various sources to define product concepts, analyze competitors and market trends, evaluate technologies, and develop detailed requirements.
Presentation and Leadership Skills: Confidence in presenting product solutions and securing approval from senior management and key stakeholders. Ability to champion new initiatives to the leadership team.
Problem-solving and Innovative Thinking: Passion for building great products and solving customer and business problems.
