Detailed Description:

We are seeking an engineer with experience managing and executing work involving projects for the municipal water and wastewater industry.  In this role, you will utilize your consulting expertise to manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships.  You will also work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders in the Northeast offices and the East Region and as needed, across the country.

Responsibilities include engineering and project management for a variety of projects to provide planning, evaluation, study and design and construction related activities for water treatment, wastewater, pumping systems and related facilities. In this role, you will supervise the work of others and provide technical support in specialized areas.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and execute work on water and wastewater utilities projects
  • Facilitate multiple, concurrent project delivery and execution (including managing subconsultants) on time, on budget and with expected level of quality
  • Lead teams to develop and prepare specifications, detailed design drawings, reports, planning, and engineering services during construction
  • Perform technical research, and communicate and apply this knowledge
  • Lead project teams in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies
  • Technical and quality control review of study, planning and design documents
  • Prepare calculations, models and other technical deliverables for civil/utility, conveyance and infrastructure related projects
  • Develop scope, schedule and budget for projects
  • Develop proposals and presentations including project understanding and approaches, and level of effort estimates
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and for professional meetings
  • Supervise, delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers
  • Assist with and lead business development pursuits
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines.
  • Utilize internal project management tools and resources to provide successful management of large projects that meet or exceed the project success metrics

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or with an Environmental focus (or related engineering discipline) required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering and consulting preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred but not required.
  • Professional registered engineer in the State of Pennsylvania or the credentials to obtain registration in a timely manner is also required
  • Previous business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work) is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience
  • Ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell’s local, regional, and national practitioners as well as help mentor junior staff
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.
