About Our Branch

The Ford-Warren Branch Library is a medium-sized branch located in the historic Whittier neighborhood—one of Denver’s oldest African American communities. We serve a deeply rooted, multigenerational community alongside a growing number of young families, all of whom rely on the library as a consistent and welcoming space. The library is a block away from McAuliffe Manual/Manual High School, with a significant number of youth who spend time in the library after school. The library prides itself on strong customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and forming meaningful daily connections with our community. The ideal candidate will bring those same values, with a particular strength in youth engagement and community presence.

About Our Position

DPL is hiring a  Security Officer I to work at the Green Valley Ranch Library to help create positive experiences for library customers by maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers and staff. You'll receive on the job training to develop skills and abilities related to the position, including certification in First Aid, CPR and in the usage of an AED, Narcan usage, defensive tactics and verbal de-escalation training. 

What You Would Bring

• Solid customer service background and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment to everyone who uses the library. 

• Knowledge of safety and security in a public setting.

• Knowledge of emergency procedures, safety hazards and how to delegate to a team.
