Job Summary
An ideal candidate will be able to quickly master medical terminology related to filling data requests, communicate effectively with business analysts, cross-functional technical teams, and academic clients, and write SQL queries that optimize the organization of data deliverables, perform analyses using R and Python, and generate visualizations using Tableau. Prior to delivery of data, the incumbent will assist with data quality checks, making sure that each deliverable matches the original request specifications, and that the data is of the highest quality. Incumbent must adhere to all institutional data governance policies and may be partially or wholly supported by partnerships with Departments, Sections, and other Research Units. Positions with contractual grant funding or other departmental funding support may be required to work in person up to 4 days per week. Position operates within a federal recharge center.
This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Responsibilities
- Gathers and analyzes healthcare and other related data to identify and interpret trends in support of data requests, business cases, and proposed projects.
- Designs, constructs, tests, and maintains data warehouse and related functionality including extraction and transformation of data using SSIS.
- Designs, develops, and tests business intelligence outputs, including visualization, to ensure useful and insightful information using software including R, Tableau, and/or Excel to support research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Tests and validates data with the purpose of understanding and making conclusions to support decision-making processes.
- Manages a variety of information systems and data files, including large and complex files, analyzing file structure, using and creating file layouts, and transforming raw data into finished products.
- Monitors for timely and accurate completion of work.
- Participates in strategic initiatives to enhance data management and reporting to support research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates closely with a cross-functional team of data scientists, project managers, and developers to ensure high-quality data delivery to faculty.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other research teams.
- Performs duties in a matrixed management environment.
- Proactively identifies issues and opportunities to improve data systems and related policies as an aspect of data governance.
- Communicates effectively with management, support staff, and faculty partners.
