Overview
The Thomas Yoseloff Business Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) is The New York Public Library’s premier business library, offering an array of free resources for those interested in personal finance, investing, small business, financial research, and career advancement. It also provides premium electronic resources and related services and programs for businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to established businesses seeking expansion, individuals seeking financial information from experienced investors to those managing their personal finances, and individuals managing their careers.
To this end, we offer:
  • Expert librarians to guide research — in-person and online 
  • Access to specialized business, industry, and finance databases, e-journals, and other resources that are otherwise out of reach to the average person or small business owner
  • A circulating collection of both print and e-books focused on bestsellers in business, money management, and career development 
  • Free, confidential, one-on-one counseling in business, personal finance, and career development from experienced and knowledgeable professionals
  • Training classes and programs taught by staff and industry leaders that are not offered anywhere else
The Thomas Yoseloff Business Center seeks a collaborative, engaged Business Projects Coordinator with planning skills to coordinate various business and finance programs, including tax preparation programs, for a diverse body of library users at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Librarian IV, Business Center, the business projects coordinator works with the Business Center Finance Team to:
  • Support the planning and implementation of various business and finance initiatives across the Library, including annual tax preparation programming in branch libraries
  • Support the development of the Library’s online information and informational resources related to business and finance programming, including tax preparation programs in branch libraries
  • Helps to develop and maintain community partnerships that align with business and finance programming, including tax preparation programs in branch libraries
  • Coordinates logistics and promotional materials for business and finance programs, including tax preparation programs in NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island 
  • Coordinates the contracting for business and finance programming, in collaboration with Legal and Procurement
  • Supports the creation of staff-facing messaging and resources for participating branches and all staff 
  • Assists with marketing programs in partnership with Communications & Marketing

  • Supports the Business Center’s Small Business and Finance Teams in the planning and execution of outreach activities and all-day events such as Financial Planning Day and Small Business Day at the Business Center and Branch Library locations in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island
  • Troubleshoot programmatic and logistical issues with partners and branch staff  
  • Maintain a database of trusted partners/potential vendors for business and financial programming for NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island 
  • Works as part of a team to provide public service and assist with outreach activities in business and finance at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Assists patrons with the use of computers and other technology or software for business and finance programs and classes at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island
  • Supports business and finance programs, both in-person and through remote platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom
  • Performs related duties and works on special projects as required
