Supervisor, Launch Pad Technicians - Night Shift
SpaceXAbout the role
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
SUPERVISOR, LAUNCH PAD TECHNICIANS - NIGHT SHIFT
SpaceX Launch Pad Technicians work in a fast-paced environment by supporting a variety of fluids, mechanical, instrumentation and DCS (Data Control Systems) systems within the launch pad. The Launch Pad Technician Supervisor will provide technical expertise is the areas of instrumentation and data acquisition hardware in support of our launch pad at LC-39A.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and direct complex technical assignments involving instrumentation and data acquisition/processing systems
- Lead a team of technicians to maintain, calibrate, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot, install, and repair instrumentation, process controls, data acquisition systems, electrical systems, fluid systems, and mechanical systems.
- Investigate, diagnose, correct, and document system malfunctions
- Fabricate and install parts and systems to be tested in test equipment using hand tools, power tools, and test instruments
- Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components on the launch pad
- Complete necessary instrumentation of test stands, wiring, and data acquisition systems
- Configure the data acquisition hardware
- Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
- Perform continuity checks; locate and correct wiring errors using measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and sequential continuity checkers
- Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
- Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and drawings
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data
- Ensure that team cohesion and morale are high at all times
- Ability to fill in for lack of instruction; design and create work orders, and make sure the team has all the info they need to complete any task
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience working with any of the following instrumentation: Resistance Temperature Devices (RTDs), silicon diode temperature devices, strain gages, load cells, displacement transducers, or pressure transducers
- 3+ years of prior leadership experience leading teams, projects or people
