About the role

Job Summary 

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician Lead provides advanced technical support for invasive cardiovascular procedures. The Lead oversees operations, coordinates patient care within the Cardiac Catheterization lab, and ensures adherence to all patient safety protocols. This role includes administrative responsibilities, procedural oversight, and direct patient care support during invasive cardiovascular procedures. It is also responsible for training and mentoring staff, coordinating with physicians on patient care, and maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines. 

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates daily activities in the Cardiac Cath Lab, including scheduling, patient preparation, and procedural setup.
  • Scrubs in with physicians for invasive cardiovascular procedures, maintaining sterile techniques and providing hands-on support.
  • Monitors and assesses patient responses throughout procedures, accurately documenting hemodynamic data and procedural details.
  • Implements quality assurance and infection control measures, maintaining a safe environment aligned with AORN standards.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to team members, ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Delivers advanced life support when required, including administering medications and providing CPR, airway support, and intravenous access as per protocol.
  • Participates in on-call rotations for emergency procedures, maintaining availability for rapid response.
  • Assists with staff training and orientation, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a cardiovascular invasive setting or Cath Lab required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, hemodynamic monitoring, and procedural protocols.
  • Skilled in operating and troubleshooting specialized Cath Lab equipment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to guide and support staff.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, infection control, and universal precautions.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
