As a recently integrated entity encompassing the Jewish Federation and The Roth Family Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando, we are a family-friendly community with abundant entertainment, arts, theme parks, sporting events, and outdoor activities. We are home to one of the largest Hillels in the country at the University of Central Florida, as well as nearby Hillels at Rollins College and Stetson University. We have three Jewish day schools, 41 synagogues, and numerous Jewish organizations, including Jewish Family Services, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center, two Jewish Community Centers, the Jewish Pavilion, and many more.
About the CEO Role:
The CEO role at Shalom Orlando offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to guide the organization into a new era of growth and impact, shaping the future of one of the fastestgrowing Jewish communities in the U.S. (with over 51,000 Jewish residents in Central Florida).
By leveraging strong leadership, financial expertise, and a proven track record in fundraising, the CEO will drive innovation and relevance within the community. This visionary, creative, and inspiring individual will possess strong management and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of the crucial role of fundraising. With strategic vision and a commitment to building meaningful relationships, the CEO will elevate Shalom Orlando to become a vital hub of Jewish life and community engagement in the 21st century.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Organizational Management: Provide dynamic and strategic leadership. Engage positively in building relationships, managing staff and lay leadership, and bringing the community together. As a change agent, the CEO will promote a culture of innovation, inclusion, and excitement around the Jewish community. Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff coaching, team development, and strategic objective setting. Ensure the management of the 13.5- acre property, including technical support and security, working with the Facilities Management Committee to maintain a safe and secure campus.
2. Strategy: Champion the execution of Shalom Orlando’s strategic plan, translating broad goals into actionable steps. Collaborate with staff and board leadership to align daily operations with strategic priorities. Drive organizational growth by evaluating progress, identifying innovation opportunities, and ensuring accountability in meeting key milestones.
3. Development: Lead the communications and development efforts in partnership with the marketing team. Serve as a dynamic and visible spokesperson who inspires donors, cultivates relationships with major funders, and builds partnerships that support Shalom Orlando's growth and sustainability. Oversee the Development Director to design and implement effective fundraising strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
4. Community Relations and Advocacy: Represent Shalom Orlando and the broader Jewish community as its face and advocate. Lead the Community Relations component, working with Shalom Orlando’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), and acting as a liaison with community organizations and government agencies. Advocate for positions affecting the local Jewish community and promote understanding and cooperation. Strengthen relationships with Israel and represent the community’s interests in public policy, social justice, and interfaith relations.
5. Programming: Collaborate with the Programming Director to design, support, and enhance innovative programs that resonate with Shalom Orlando’s diverse community. Ensure programming aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic vision, fostering community engagement and inclusivity. Encourage new initiatives that address emerging trends and opportunities within the Jewish community.
6. Financial Acumen: Demonstrate strong financial acumen, analyzing financial data and making informed decisions to ensure the organization’s financial health. The CEO, in partnership with the CFO and the board of directors, will oversee financial security by utilizing financial reports for annual budgeting, forecasting, and strategy development.
7. Fundraising and Resource Development: Lead fundraising efforts through donor development, planned giving, grant procurement, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and special events. Oversee fundraising strategies and ensure alignment with the organization’s vision to
