POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Corporation of America is seeking Associate Director, Data Platform, to join the CISD, GSIRT located in Reston, VA.  

This position reports to the Sr Director and the team focuses on developing and managing data pipelines, ensuring high data quality, and implementing best practices for engineering. They drive platform modernization, adopt new technologies, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization while fostering collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement. The team is a pivotal part of Sony’s program to secure its information assets, services, and the products that depend on them, building trust with customers and stakeholders and protecting the privacy of Sony’s customers.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership/Management:

    • Lead and empower a team of security data engineers and administrators, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment

    • Coach, mentor, guide and provide leadership to security data engineers, administrators and peers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth while cultivating a team dedicated to excellence

    • Responsible and accountable for all security data assets, guaranteeing their confidentiality, integrity, and availability

    • Help define and execute the vision and strategic direction for the security data platform, ensuring alignment with company goals by assessing current state, identifying gaps, and developing a phased approach for platform modernization

    • Lead the evaluation and adoption of new security data technologies, capabilities and architectures, staying ahead of the curve, through proof-of-value & proof-of-concepts

    • Lead cross-functional projects which enable new security data capabilities and address critical business needs

    • Manage allocation of budgets and resources effectively to ensure successful execution of security data engineering projects

  • Technical:

    • Drive the design, development, and maintenance of a scalable security data infrastructure to meet evolving business needs

    • Oversee data ETL and pipeline lifecycle management, ensuring efficient data ingestion, processing and storage, while maintaining high data quality standards

    • Set high standards for engineering practices and data governance, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.

    • Promote automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to streamline data operations

    • Foster a data-driven culture across the organization, empowering informed decision-making

    • Develop measures and monitoring systems to track security data quality, process efficiency, and identify areas for improvement and manage to them

    • Serve as an escalation point for technical challenges and architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, best practices, and business goals

    • Establish data quality frameworks, access controls, and integration standards while serving as technical owner for platform capabilities

  • Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION 

Your qualifications and experience should include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent work experience

  • 6+ years of technical experience with data and data platforms

  • 3-4 years’ experience leading and managing geographically separated teams responsible for large-scale SIEM deployments, Data Lakes or Data Warehouses, RDBMS, data pipelines and workflow, and ETL solutions

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and influencing skills

  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA
