Summary:
The Asset Finance Group Collections Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of Collections Representatives for the assigned portfolio. This position establishes short and long-term strategic initiatives for the Collections group in support of overall corporate goals and objectives as well as develops new policies and procedures which ensure efficiency in operations and compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. In addition, this role provides direction in the establishment and/or implementation of new technologies, as well as monitors and reports on status of collections overall.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the collection related activities for the assigned portfolio, including a team of commercial collectors responsible for early, mid, and/or late-stage collection activities.
- Establishes colleague and team goals that align with overall corporate strategic objectives.
- Researches complex collection and litigation issues; develops and implements workout arrangements on problem loans and leases including repossessions.
- Assists direct reports with proposing and approving modifications and assumptions (if approval authority is assigned).
- Directs the collections team on strategy for the overall effective management of the portfolio in order to meet or exceed assigned delinquency, non-accrual and net charge-off goals.
- Handles escalated internal and external customer issues and collaborates with other departments including Legal, Accounting, Operations, and the Financial Recovery Group to address complaints.
- Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and program partners including negotiation of program agreements and structures. Works closely with cross-functional leaders to quickly and effectively identify and address operational issues.
- Partners with other teams on broader organizational objectives including system implementations, M&A related activities, and program onboarding.
- Creates, prepares, and monitors a variety of portfolio reports used to articulate overall portfolio performance and to identify potential problem areas.
- Provides effective team development, management, hiring and disciplinary action when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/economics or equivalent work experience
- 7-10 years of direct commercial collections experience, special assets, workouts or loss mitigation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Leasing or financial services experience
- Direct commercial collections experience
- Process improvement experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a deadline driven fast paced environment
- Ability to make sound responsible decisions in a timely manner
- Thorough knowledge of various software programs including Word and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn additional systems/software
