This role is for a hands-on leader well-versed in massive scale distributed systems who will translate strategic product vision into technical execution, acting as the key technical and customer-facing leader for the taskforce's strategic initiatives.</span></p><p></p><p><span>You will focus on execution, drive the development of new products/features from concept to customer deployment, and serve as the technical bridge between the Cork-based team and global product/engineering leadership.</span></p><h2></h2><h2><b><span>What You Will Do</span></b></h2><ul><li><p>Lead the Forward Engineering Taskforce:<span> Define, staff, and lead a cross-functional engineering taskforce in Cork, Ireland, building empowered pods with clear </span>full-stack<span> ownership for strategic product initiatives within the Cloudera Data Platform.</span></p></li><li><p>Drive Massive Scale Execution:<span> Oversee the technical design and execution of features, ensuring the delivery of scalable, performant, and resilient massive scale distributed systems and cloud-native services.</span></p></li><li><p>Champion Customer-Oriented Development:<span> Work directly with customers and field teams to gather feedback, translate requirements into technical solutions, and ensure the taskforce delivers real-world customer value.</span></p></li><li><p>Foster Technical Excellence:<span> Instill and enforce a strong engineering discipline within the taskforce, championing SDLC improvements, DevSecOps practices, rigorous testing, and a culture of code quality and technical ownership.</span></p></li><li><p>Partner and Collaborate:<span> Serve as the connective tissue between the taskforce and global Engineering, Product, and Support teams to ensure seamless integration of strategic projects and alignment on dependencies.</span></p></li><li><p>Coach and Mentor:<span> Build a high-trust, technically strong team, actively mentoring senior engineers and managers to cultivate full-stack expertise and leadership growth.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><span>What We Are Looking For</span></b></p><ul><li><p>Experience:<span> 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in management level roles managing cross-functional teams.</span></p></li><li><p>Distributed Systems Expertise:<span> Deep technical expertise in building and operating </span>massive scale distributed systems<span>, modern data architectures, and hybrid/cloud-native infrastructure (preferably Kubernetes-based orchestration).</span></p></li><li><p>Full-Stack and Customer Focus:<span> Proven experience as a </span>full-stack<span> leader, capable of overseeing all aspects of product development (front-end, back-end, and infrastructure). Must have a strong </span>customer-oriented<span> mindset with experience presenting technical roadmaps and solutions to external clients.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Very strong in Java. DevOps knowledge.</span></p></li><li><p>Execution Rigor:<span> Operational ability to define, track, and execute on key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive clarity and velocity across complex, interdependent components.</span></p></li><li><p>Global Team Management:<span> Experience managing and mentoring technical leaders across different time zones, with a focus on building a high-performing team in the Cork, Ireland location.</span></p></li><li><p>Open Source &amp; AI/ML:<span> Strong grasp of open-source dynamics and experience contributing to or leveraging projects (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Iceberg).
